I recently completed a mold remediation in West Hempstead NY for a Liberty Mutual customer. I am not on the Liberty Mutual vendor list yet the adjuster sent me a very long email telling me i had to remove almost a dozen different line items for no valid reason. Do i or anyone else in my position have to comply to this in order to get paid? What would one do if forced to make a decision? Is it legal for them to do this?

You do not have to comply.
They have no say so or authority over you if you are not on there program.
Just bill the client what the insurance company does not pay.

I agree with David Snell. As long as you are operating within industry accepted standards and have sufficient documentation the insurance company has no grounds for dictating to you how to perform remediation regardless of whether you are on their vendor list or not. Bill the homeowner for the services and they can fight with their insurance company over it. I know this sucks for the homeowner, but the homeowner is the one that chose the insurance company that is trying to refuse them the services they need according to accepted industry standards.

Dominick, if you are on preferred vendor list,  and you have agreed to there terms and what they will pay you or  not pay for, then the answer could be yes.
I have never been nor never will be on some ones preferred vendor list.
Here is the reason why.  That insurance company has control over some one,  who is.

i am not on a vendor list. I just had another loss with the same insurance company.(liberty mutual) small one for the most part..wrote for 2900 and they were trying to cut me down. I explained to him that i gave my scope to the adjuster, i followed protocol for the loss, i am not on your vendor list and this is not an estimate it is my final bill.. I was pretty stern about it. He said nothing further and approved my bill in full. Liberty Mutual is a pain in the ******!
