we recently did a job where the customer had installed basic plywood over the concrete floor in their basement with no vapor barrier between the wood and the concrete. Is this a good idea? even with a vapor barrier would you consider this a good idea? we had to remove all the flooring....

My first question would be this?  Why was plywood put over concrete?
          Thank you.

sometimes i feel it is done to level the floor....the job i was doing that made me bring up this question had carpet on the floor, no need to level the floor if installing carpet. the customer has decided that they will not use wood again...my question to them now it what happens with all the wood trapped under the wall framing that had to be cut around and left behind...will they have to dismantle all their walls to get all these little sections of wood out from under the framing?
